Where can Gen-AI assist making games for a society in a state of flux?
The presentation gives an insight into the European Game Science Lab's project on how GenAI-based assistance systems can contribute to innovative game design. It also discusses the goals of a Ludo-narrative game design framework that takes a holistic view of game experience and narrative. Thomas Bremer is Professor of Game Design, specialising in Game System Design and Game Thinking, and co-founder of the DE:HIVE GameHub at the HTW Berlin. He studied fine arts at the HfBK Hamburg. His field of research is the artistic and scientific exploration of the phenomenon of play and its dimensions, transdisciplinary forms and potentials. He is particularly interested in discovering and questioning the principles and rules of play established in society, reflecting on the socially transformative potential of games, and artistically testing and scientifically researching the creative powers of play. He is also particularly active in the field of entrepreneurship education. Susanne Brandhorst is a professor for conceptual game design. She is co-founder of the DE:HIVE GameHub at the HTW Berlin. Her expertise includes creative and art direction, game thinking, visual development for games as well as coaching art workflows and didactic conception. In her research, Susanne Brandhorst focuses on Game Thinking and develops methods for analysing, rethinking and designing systems and products from the perspective of players and game system designers. Game Thinking transfers successful mechanisms and principles from game system design to other domains. She uses Game Thinking to create spaces for collaborative work and research. An example of her work is the development of the entire concept and interior design of DE:HIVE.
