Ania Poranek
Ania Poranek was brought up in Ontario, Canada, but spent summers in the Poland countryside, enchanted by the woody path and by his grandfather’s tales. Despite her love for animals led her to graduate in veterinary medicine, she has been writing and creating stories since she was a child. She has always been thrilled by folklore stories, from abandoned ruins to ghostly forests. These elements can be noticed in her debut novel: Where the Dark Stands still, an ode to Poland savage forests, to the fiercest tales and to the girls that have been brought up by them.
Where the Dark Stands Still, a New York Times best seller novel, mixes skilfully gothic and fairy settings, adding elements of the Slavic mythology and especially Poland folklore’s stories. Nowadays, Ania Poranek lives in Versailles, France and when is not occupied in writing, tries to tame his personal demon, Neptune.
