Alexey Pajitnov, born in Moscow in 1955, created the groundbreaking puzzle game Tetris in 1984 while working at the Moscow Academy of Sciences. Tetris, featuring distinctive falling pieces called Tetriminos, became a global sensation.

In 1989, Alexey partnered with Henk Rogers to license Tetris to Nintendo, making it a staple on Game Boy and other platforms. He co-founded The Tetris Company in 1996 and has contributed to various games and technologies, including work with Microsoft.
