Peach Momoko
Peach Momoko is the pseudonym of an artist born in Kumagaya, Saitama prefecture, Japan. Her real name is shrouded in mystery, as she prefers to be known by the name she has been using since her art school days. Among her influences there are mangakas like Atsushi Kaneko and many others. She has been working as an illustrator, specializing in erotic, dark and sometimes splatter images, since the late 2000s. After a stay in Portland, she entered the American comics circle. In 2013 she started drawing illustrations and short stories for the American magazine Girls and Corpses and, two years later, her collaboration with the well-known Heavy Metal began. In the following years she took part in many exhibitions in festivals and art galleries all over the world. In 2019, her talent drew the attention of Adi Granov, who introduced her to the Marvel Comics editors. At first, Peach Momoko drew above all cards dedicated to the heroes of the publishing house, but then she quickly became the author of many covers for some of the most sold publications, such us X-Man, Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, Hulk, Venom, Dr. Strange and many more. In the same period, she signed covers for independent editors such as BOOM! Studios (Something Is Killing the Children, Wynd), Image Comics (Crossover, Twig), Dynamite (Vampirella). And of course, the covers for DC Comics like Batman Black & White, Batman: The Adventure Continues, DCeased and many more. In 2020 she signed an exclusive rights agreement with Marvel, making her one of their Stormbreakers, a group of promising and talented artists of the publishing house. She also wrote and drew some short stories for anthologies such as Women of Marvel and Elektra: Black, White and Blood. In 2021 she was awarded the prestigious Eisner as Best Cover Artist. At the beginning of 2024, Peach Momoko inaugurated the series Ultimate X-Men for Marvel, in which she retells the origins of the famous group of heroes in a Japanese key.
