Deena Mohamed

Deena Mohamed was born in Cairo in 1995. She started drawing comics at eighteen, creating her webcomic Qahera. Her work, in which she addresses themes like misogyny and islamophobia trough the adventures of a Muslim feminist heroine wearing a hijab, quickly went viral. At just twenty years old, the author has been listed by The Washington Post among the “five women changing their world for the better” on Women’s International Day. Shubbek Lubbek, her first graphic novel (published in Italy by Coconino Press), became a publishing sensation.
