After making his debut with TV series Dinosaur Teacher in 1993, Lee Jung-jae rose straight to prominence with his first lead role in the series Sandglass, which won him multiple rookie-of-the-year awards.

Becoming one of the most distinguished actors in Korea upon the success of City of the Rising Sun, he has since stayed a prolific actor, starring in The Thieves, Assassination and the Along with the Gods franchise among many others. Breaking the ten-million mark for ticket sales for the four films aforementioned, Lee proved his acting caliber, receiving both critical and public acclaim.

With Hunt, his directorial debut in 2022, Lee was invited to the 75th Cannes Film Festival and the 27th Toronto International Film Festival, and won Best New Director at the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards.

Starring in Squid Game in 2021 as Seong Gi-hun, or player 456, Lee effortlessly pulled off a realistic portrayal of an ordinary man participating in a fierce game, becoming the very first non-English performer to win the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards® for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, while also winning Male Actor in a Drama Series at the 28th SAG Awards, Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Critics’ Choice Awards and Best Male Performance in a Scripted Series at the Independent Spirit Awards.

Lately, he has become the first Korean actor to join the Star Wars franchise as a Jedi master, solidifying his global prowess with his versatile performances.
