Francesca Ghermandi

Francesca Ghermandi was born in Bologna. Her comic stories and illustrations have been published from the mid-1980s onwards by Italian and foreign magazines. 

Among these, she has collaborated for a long time on Frigidaire, Echo des Savanes, Linus, Zero Zero, Il Manifesto, L’unità, La Repubblica, and starting from 1997 she illustrates articles for the weekly magazine Internazionale.

She created many comics and illustrated books, including Pasticca, The Wipeout, Hiawata Pete, Grenuord, Cronache della palude, Un’estate a Tombstone; Pronto-Soccorso and Beauty-Case, on Stefano Benni’s texts and Le Avventure di Ulisse on Roberto Piumini’s texts. 

In 2006 she created the theme song for the Biennale Cinema of Venice and in 2022 she realized the animations for the dance show by Silvia Gribaudi, Mon Jour. 

Her latest comic book is I misteri dell’oceano intergalattico (Eris, 2023), awarded in 2023 at the Treviso Comic Book Festival, the Lucca Comics & Games festival and in 2024 at the Festival di satira Bertoldo.
