Among the 12 new rooms inaugurated on Monday the 10th of July on the first floor of the Uffizi Gallery, a great news.

Being part of the accurate selection of 255 works (among paintings, sculptures, drawings and video arts, from the portrait of the Gaddi family painters and of the Beato Angelico circle, up to the present day with Bill Viola, Antony Gormley, Ai Weiwei, Yan Pei-Ming), a section dedicated to comics artists has been presented.

The project, born in 2021 after the Italian Ministry of Culture “Fumetti nei musei” (Comics at the museum), becomes reality! Thanks to the collaboration between Lucca Comics & Games and the Uffizi Gallery, from today onwards comics arrive at the museum, an event never seen before in terms of international galleries. In fact, inside the two rooms frescoed by Luigi Ademollo in the XIX century, the public will have the opportunity to admire the self-portraits of 54 Italian masters, such as Milo Manara, Lorenzo Mattotti and Altan and the noble father of the American comics, Will Eisner.

Inside the two rooms dedicated to the works on paper, several photos, engravings, new works on paper purchases, ancient and modern drawings will also be exhibited, in rotation, which for the sensitivity of the material to light can be exhibited only for a few months a year.
