Guest and exhibition: Howard Chaykin
A debut at the early age of 17, a rich career thanks to the collaborations with the major American comics publishers, the greatest worldwide screenplay exponents and the most important film and TV productions: for over 50 years Howard Chaykin has transmitted his challenging and transgressive attitude into his stories.
Some of his works, such as Black Kiss, American Flagg!, Time2 and The Divided States of Hysteria, have made the history of the American comicsby majestically bringing to life: superheroes, prostitutes, transsexuals, veterans, jazz musicians, conspirators and many other characters who have enriched his career as a comics author. A narrative that the audience will have the opportunity to discover in an exhibition dedicated to him at the Fondazione Banca del Monte: a wide retrospective realised with non-public works belonging to Italian collectors and some of his latest works.
The author will be at the festival as a guest of saldaPress and, above all, will bring the Black Kiss Omnibus, The Divided States of Hysteria iconoclast including some unpublished pages that contain an alternative ending and a preview of his first volume of the Hey Kids! Comics! trilogy and Midnight of the Soul.
