By Roberto Irace and MinaLima
Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima started working together in 2001 to imagine and create the entire graphic universe of all the Harry PotterTM films. Motivated by a shared artistic vision, they founded a graphic design studio in 2009 with the aim of creating distinctive and unconventional designs and illustrations for the entertainment and publishing industries. They called it Studio MinaLima.
As Studio MinaLima, they have designed graphic objects for films such as Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Golden Compass and The Imitation Game; created the art print collection Animal Collectives; and produced MinaLima Classics, a series of bestselling picture books.
Miraphora and Eduardo have continued their involvement in the Wizarding World saga with numerous design commissions, from theme park design to marketing and publishing. In 2015, a new chapter in imagining this world began with the design of the graphic objects for the Fantastic Beasts film series. In 2016 they opened House of MinaLima in London, an immersive gallery and shop showcasing their treasure trove of graphic artwork. Since then, the experiential storytelling space has also welcomed visitors in Osaka, Tokyo, Seoul and New York - globally celebrating the idiosyncrasies of Miraphora and Eduardo's ideas and their passion for storytelling through design.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the publication of the first book in Italy of the Harry Potter saga by J.K. Rowling, special guests of the event will be Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, the two graphic designers who, with their Studio MinaLima and their work on Warner Bros. film props, have given life and concrete body to the words of the author. The exhibition will be dedicated to them and will feature more than 114 original props and sketches from the films, including the letter of acceptance to Hogwarts, the Marauder's Map, the Half-Blood Prince's book of Advanced Potions, the Hogwarts Express ticket, the Prophet's Gazette, the Chocolate Frogs and more. The exhibition will also feature the book The Magic of MinaLima, the volumes of MinaLima dedicated to Harry Potter, including the launch of the third book Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by MinaLima and the classic fairy tales, published in Italy by L'ippocampo edizioni.
The authors will be guests of Lucca Comics & Games 2023, in collaboration with Salani and Ippocampo edizioni.
