The festival opens under the banner of an Oscar winner. On the first day of the event, Wednesday 1 November, Michel Gondry, the Academy award-winning director, arrives in Lucca.

Gondry, a true alchemist of the imaginary, is adirectorandscreenwriter, one of the greatest and most innovative contemporary filmmakers and a champion of music videos. He is known for his creative vision and distinctive style, capable like no other of mixing multiple narrative languages in a surprising blend of surrealism and imagination.

Gondry has gained international recognition for his work in music videos working with artists such as Björk, The White Stripes, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and Rolling stones. His linguistic innovation and the special effects he created have also changed the way advertising is done: his commercial for Levi's is in the Guinness Book of Records for the most awarded in history.

In the world of cinema, he directed such memorable films as “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” (Se mi lasci ti cancello, 2004), for which he won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

I Wonder Pictures will present A Lucca con Gondry (In Lucca with Gondry): in the mind of the brilliant director of "Se mi lasci ti cancello” (“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”), an invitation to discover the master's creativity, through the previews of "The Book of Solutions", "Michel Gondry, do it yourself" and "In bed with Gondry" and a masterclass in dialogue with writer Manlio Castagna (1 November at 2 pm, at the Astra cinema).
