[Translate to English:] Maren, Star Wars: Episodio I - La minaccia fantasma, Olio su tela, Poster

Fantasy

Sanjulián and Maren (the latter will be present every day of the festival), two sides of the same coin. Although both share a deep passion for figurative art, the stylistic process and the themes these two brothers face offer different and complementary perspectives.

Sanjulián, known for his magazine covers, fantasy novels and horror, stands out for the creation of dark and evocative tones. The way he uses lights and shadows in his illustrations leaves a strong impression, making almost tangible the narrative tension. The horror theme in his projects is achieved thanks to the way he uses the light to build tension, giving life to mysterious creatures and landscapes that seem to appear from the darkness. The dynamic compositions and the use of a chromatic palette highlight the details about the characters and mythical creatures. Sanjulián doesn’t restrict himself to the fantasy and horror genre: his versatility extends to commercial and figurative projects, with collaborations in the fields of advertising and cinema.

On the other hand, Maren brings a different feeling to the artistic landscape, which is distinguished by a substantial range of pictorial techniques, from oil paintings to watercolors, from pastels to charcoal. His ability to stretch out distinctive styles and genres, from the story to the fantasy up to the science fiction, this freedom allows him to create projects that make the viewer lose themselves in the visual storytelling he creates. Maren style perfectly reflects the ability to merge reality and imagination, while the details of his compositions, full of atmosphere, are about the multidimensional creative vision.

The exhibition Sanjulián e Maren: Art in the Veins is the perfect opportunity to explore the work of two brothers that, although different, share the dedication to technical perfection and the power of visual imagination.
